What you need to know about your skin through winter

Winter skin can be a common problem for many people, especially during the colder months when the air is dry. Some common issues that people experience include dryness, flakiness, and redness. To help alleviate these problems, it is important to moisturize regularly, avoid taking long, hot showers, and use a humidifier in your home to add moisture to the air. Additionally, it can be helpful to use gentle, non-irritating skincare products and avoid using harsh soaps and cleansers that can strip your skin of its natural oils.

These are the issues that many people struggle with through the winter months.  You are not alone.

  1. Dryness and flakiness
  2. Redness and irritation
  3. Loss of elasticity and increased fine lines and wrinkles
  4. Loss of moisture and hydration
  5. Itchiness and discomfort
  6. Increased sensitivity to cold and wind.
  7. Breakouts and acne: The dry, cold weather can clog pores and lead to breakouts and acne.

  8. Increased sensitivity: The cold weather can make the skin more sensitive, leading to increased redness, itching, and irritation.

  9. Chapped lips: The dry air can cause the lips to become chapped and cracked.

  10. Cold sores: Cold weather can trigger cold sores, which are painful blisters that appear on the lips or around the mouth.

  11. Dry, itchy scalp: The dry air can cause the scalp to become dry and itchy, leading to dandruff and other scalp issues.

As the weather gets colder and colder and we are all putting on more clothes it is more important to create a routine of skincare (i.e. selfcare, selflove) that you will consistently follow.  Consistency is the key.  Consistency with products that enhance the health of your skin also enhance the health of all of the systems of the body.
